The Gaebelein Institute for the Integration of Faith & Learning exists to equip Christian schools to unite academic excellence with authentic Christian faith. The Institute provides resources and training that promote the integration of faith and learning. Through professional development, thought leadership, and networking, we support educators in fostering moral, intellectual, and spiritual formation and in preparing students to serve the world through their character and leadership.
A distinctly Christian education should see all studies as sacred, because all truth is God’s truth.
In 1922, the young headmaster of new Christian preparatory school tackled an existential question about Christian education: how can we pursue academic excellence while not sacrificing our Christian mission?
Frank E. Gaebelein’s inaugural address helped chart the course for Christian education at his own school of 40+ years, The Stony Brook School, and for many Christian institutions across the United States for the next century. Gaebelein’s mission of the “integration of faith and learning” became the blueprint for many Christian secondary schools and universities.
Gaebelein’s message holds true today. His vision of unifying an uncompromisingly excellent education with an uncompromisingly authentic Christian faith remains the mission of many Christian schools and colleges. The purpose of the Gaebelein Institute for the Integration of Faith & Learning is to equip these schools with resources, training, and professional development to think intentionally about how we can champion making Christ and the Bible integral to an academically rigorous curriculum.
